Miserable!

15th January 2017

A wet underpants day and to make it worse, no views. There was such heavy drizzle and rain and snow melt that there were burns cascading down the hillsides where there shouldn’t have been burns cascading down the hillsides! Where the snow distribution was superficial at lower levels, it is now bare. Similarly, areas higher up that were previously wind scoured are also now bare. The thaw will continue through next week – sorry!

As good as it got! The view into the main Fannaich mountains.

I should have known better! Change of plans – this should have been the ‘easy’ burn crossing.

The summit of Meall Leacachain (618m) with patchy snow holding on the Easterly aspects. That uncomfortable realisation that one’s dry underpants would not last much longer started about here! Yesterday, my No. 2 son snowboarded off this hill back to the road!! Says it all.

Global warming? Glackour cottage, Strath Mor by the River Broom. Anyone for afternoon tea?
