A Fine Day
25th February 2016
Good snow cover generally, with deep drifts in places. Slow moving heavy snow showers and light winds deposited snow on all aspects overnight. Another good day forecast for tomorrow.
Creag Dubh, Beinn Eighe in early morning cloud.
At low level, snow showers at first with rain later. Sgurr Dubh and Caledonian pines above Loch Clair.
Windward and lee aspects.
Coire an Laoigh, Beinn Eighe. Good snow cover on East to South aspects. Many single point avalanches on Southerly aspects due to sun radiation. The larger and more obvious avalanche debris in the photos are due to the channelling of multiple smaller slides.
Outmanoevered! The ‘Famous Mountaineer’ following a broken trail in deep snow. He had stopped to tie his laces!
