A Wintry Blast !

11th April 2015

A day of contrast from the previous days, cold temperatures especially in the strong South-West winds. A dusting of new snow on all aspects, but with drifting this  has resulted in some windslab accumulations on lee slopes, mainly above 850 metres. This is of moderate stability where it has accumulated to depth but this is only in very isolated locations. Temperatures are not quite as cold as expected and the old snowpack is still a bit soft.
